Livin cain’t be simple enymore
This is actually my first official entry to my web site even though it has been up since last fall. I have a plaque which used to hang in my grandmother’s house. It is of an older hillbilly pumping gthe old well pump out in the yard to get water for the house. The caption reads “Livin caint be simple enymore – Thar’s too many gadgets.” I know exactly how he feels. Everybody tries to tell me how much all this new technology could add to my business, yet every time I try to use it, the only thing it seems to add to my life is frustration. I usually wind up wanting to take a hammer and reduce this technological wonder to a pile of rubble! How thankful I am to have friends that are willing to put up with this extremely simple mind and try to help me with this endeavor. My sister-in-law got internet two weeks ago and I have tried to work on it the last two Sunday afternoons but as of now, I think the situation is hopeless. My mind is bent to building the soil not navigating the web. (I never have been fond of the water anyway.)
This winter has gone by all too quickly. Of course when your last market is the Saturday before Christmas it doesn’t leave much room for a winter break. I didn’t think I was going to get any fall work done, mbut the week before Christmas I was able to get a couple of good days. Of course it seems like I could ahwayws use another week, but I was sure thankful for those frew days I had. After that we had a Christmas eve of rain and then the snow and cold set in. I am actually thankful for that kind of weather that time of the year (please don’t hate me) because it forces me inside to take care of some of that baookwork that walways seems to hide during the summer. Christmas was different this year for ti was the first Christmas that neither of our children were here to celebrate it with us. However it is always a joyus time when we celebrate the birt of our Saviour. We actually were able to enjoy our season longer for our children were coming in on Janurary 7. We had a new grandson we had not yet seen adn our other grandson we hadn’t seen for a year and a half. We had an enjoyable week with them that week but I wish teh weather had been a little warmer so Grandpa and Grandson could have spent more time outside. Did I fail to menion they came from southern Califronia where the daily high was about 50 degrees to Missouri, where the high the day they arrived was -3. The funny thing was the Califronia grandson didn’t seem to midn teh cold a bit, but the Missouri raised parents almost froze to death.
During this time we also had to schedule a little repair job for me. Sometime last year I developed what they call a groin hernia and then later what the doctor call an incision hernia. I scheduled it diruing this time so Mom would have kids with her. When you have such a rare illness as Rose, it is a little scary when your primary caregiver goes under the knife. It turned out to be a little more than the doctor though as two hernias turned into four or five. The Lord was good to us as everything went well and though it may slow me up a little this spring, I hope to be back going strong by the first of march. It looks like we may have plenty of moisture this spring.
I hope to have some exciting news later on so keep checking the web site for updates. I will try to put up some regular postings.
